when talking about the music of com truise (one of the many pseudonyms of new jersey designer/musician seth haley), the nostalgia bit inevitably comes up, so lets get that out of the way. yes, his songs tap classic sci-fi and proto-electro in a way that is distinctly early eighties in scope. but they’re also remarkably weird--stutter-step proggy and intoxicatingly psychedelic, like those classic touchstones got drunk on lava lamp juice inside a pinball machine. after his well-received cyanide sisters ep, a grip of remixes for artists like twin shadow, neon indian, and, uh, daft punk, and a few floating mp3s, truises first lp, galactic melt, will finally enter brainspaces this summer.

the fried tofu crew follow up their excellent first course with another tasty selection! on the a-side sweet soulful voices catch you from the first try on. but dont be hasty, or you will burn your tongue. this is hot and far from being a dessert. after the first impression of sweetness, you will feel the spicy taste coming through. we all love that slight burning on the lips, making you really feel the feel. the first cut on the b-side digs even deeper into sweetness. somehow everything seems to be so lovely, each time this one is played out. its clear that even the ruff guys cant resist the taste of honey. real sweet and spicy, thats how its got to be. things are straightened out on the final cut, which finishes off the meal with a raw funk jam. the extended guitar groove gets back to the basics. sometimes few essential things, combined in the right way, can be all you need. a typical mistake when preparing a meal is to add too many different spices.

jon dasilva is one of the original hacienda (the manchester club) djs and was behind the decks when house exploded in the uk during the summer of love in 1988 as well as being a tour dj for new order and the haciendas usa tour in 1990. since then he has been credited for mentoring djs such as sasha and been an inspiration to laurent garnier a.o. he has also got a string of releases under his belt for labels such as soma, deconstruction, robs records and better days. check! on his debut release he teams up with vocalist donald waugh and the return to the roots of house music with >love is all we need<. together they have created a house classic that never was, reminiscent of an essential dj international release or alike. comes as full vocal and dubbed out bootleg mix. on the flip we find brailles on remix duties. fresh from his massive >the year 3000< on our direct current series, braille pushes >love is all we need< into the next century. classic feel good stuff. this is how we like our vocal house!

this is one of those timeless tracks that you still hear played out today. when it was released, orbit 1.3 was played by pretty much every representative of the tech-house sound - it featured on mixes by craig richards & lee burridge, doc martin, dj garth, sean cusick, dj three, and many more besides. not only that, but its appeal spread as far as the progressive fraternity and those of more traditional house sounds. its a deep throbbing epic with a haunting vocal sample and that indescribable >x factor< that makes a classic track.

trio techno cover, it was just a question of time to reach the point when wayne considers himself to be the one to create a musical statement in order to show what he thinks about all the current status of some parts of the electronic dancemusic circus. he still suffers from too much so called >minimal< in his eyes and he wants back the energy he is missing on many occasions… >you know, techno without bass is like f…… without screwing him in…< some might say he s too late with this song, but thats simply wayne! in his universe the meaning of time is different to what we all would expect. anyway, he finally checked out garage band on the mac he recently >lended< from somebody he does not even know, and here we go with his first very own song. lyrics in german only and heavily inspired by one of the biggest hits from the 80ies from the german cult-formation >trio<, but to make a long story short: its waynes message that the so called minimal sound is definitely over now: >always klick and always klack, i can not tell how much it sucks...<

big with: sebo k, ryan crosson, dario zenker, lee burridge, shlomi aber, seth troxler, lee curtiss, brothers vibe, reboot, karotte, dubfire, mathias kaden, ellen allien, ame, joris voorn, .. italian born alex picone has been an integral member of the bass culture family since the label launch. his thai ep, our second release, found critical acclaim from both djs and dance press. backed by its chris carrier remix, the ep gathered strong support from the likes of loco dice, luciano, tiefschwarz, dj hell, ame and more. alex was soon following his ep, with a remix for arnaud le texier on ivory machine ep from bcr005. again receiving huge praise and support from his peers. when hes not at the helm of the bass culture express, alex can be found releasing work on such highly acclaimed labels as cadenza, bosconi and tenax. whilst his output may not be as prolific as some, each and every release stands the test of time. this may be down to alexs unique and unnerving ability to cross genres, however we feel its simply down to the unrivalled quality of his productions. a quality that is once again in evidence on his, en pensant ep. four wonderfully varied original cuts and a summery phil weeks remix that range from the smooth as silk, vocal-lead title track, to the deep and elegantly twisted coco verde.

aah, how we have missed them! the fine young gentlemen that are channel x, two of stil vor talents most active producers of meticulously crafted and deeply energetic tech-house smash hits. and just in time for the open-air season they now come back with two very convincing pieces of dancefloor art. first up is >little symphony<, an epic space opera that takes it cues from early 90s techno and mixes it up with post-modern grooves and beats. the wide and open spaces are filled with some very hymnal string patterns that are given a final treatment with a reverbed and high-pitched vocal sample. contrast that with the rather jittery beat and a subbass as deep as the frequencies will go and you got yourself a substantially clear bit of techno that is best imagined when it is dark and only some beams of air tell you where you are. channel x do not produce, they direct and all of the sounds are their actors! on the flip things get more light-hearted and set for the daylight hours as well. >steamboat willie< is a heavily sample-orientated swinging piece of jack. the rhythm guitar lead the way on top of a clap-based loop that sets the basis for some very jazzy interpretations along the way. clarinets, trumpets, percussions, brass, effects and even some talking vocal samples are all allowed to join in this hedonistic big band that is at play. this is one for the sunshine, this is one for the smiles on the faces, this is one to feel instantly good about yourself and everything around you. two very different tracks on this ep, but both equally stand out for themselves

gerd is delivering at the moment! after releases on clone royal oak, philpot, a big re-issue on rejected, great remixes on 4lux and delusions of grandeur its time for him to release on his own 4lux label! a massive chicago influenced track called h.o.u.s.e. featuring the voice of l.b. bad, the prince of dance music. this track was originally penned in 1994 when gerd had elbee over to tour the benelux. the track was released on an obscure limited edition white label only back then, but here a new rework of these old recordings. 2011 sees the track remixed by gerd himself and he takes the tune into rough & uncompromising analogue territory with filthy synth bassline and relentless tr808 action. seriously good track!! jakob korn, arttu and neville watson are on remix duty and deliver some fresh remix that complete this record. recommended!

tuccillo is a rare producer as he lives and works in ibiza all year round rather than flies in for the summer. the white island is without doubt the most overused and abused place on earth for dance music promotion, but beneath the glam superficial surface a real scene of native island talent is emerging. so when it came to making an ep for 2020vision we pushed the artist as far as we felt he could go, to explore new untried directions and show his diversity. tuccillo showed his true spirit and worked though a few knockbacks from our a/r team until we were happy we had the best ep possible at this moment

when some collaborations occur, it feels like fate has been paying close attention, planning something special. on one hand: bugge wesseltoft, pianist, composer and pioneer of electronic jazz, on the other: henrik schwarz, one of the most sought after producers of electronic music who has remixed stars from michael jackson to ane brun. this combination may not seem as radical as once it might, as in the days before bugges new conception of jazz, but the results most certainly are: this does not feel like your typical electronic jazz outing. its a super-group in microcosm. wesseltoft comes from a jazz background and has moved towards electronic music. he started on the ecm label with jan garbarek, and later collaborated with club music legends like laurent garnier and francois kervorkian on stage. schwarz comes from the chicago/ detroit techno culture, and performs at music festivals and in clubs on all continents. he has been moving towards the jazz and improvisation

next up on deep vibes comes sascha dive with his killer remixes of matthew dears >little people (black city)<. originally released on spectral sound (spc 101) as a digital-only package a vinyl edition had to follow due to public demand. for maximum sound quality the 20 minute version got shortened to a 15 minute >vinyl cut< (a1), while the >dub remix< comes in its original form on the flip-side (b1). sascha dive and matthew dear met on the road a few years back. in 2008 matthew dear featured a remix by the deep vibes boss on his watergate mix-compliation. when they played together in munich in august 2010 dear asked dive, if he wanted to do a remix for his upcoming album. the only condition dear asked him for was that it had to be the wildest and most crazy remix that dive could possibly do. little people (black city) is the probably strongest song of matthew dears recently released album black city. sascha dives remixes are on heavy rotation and played by a wide range of djs. make sure you get this joint in the box!

patrick lindsey is no new comer . active in the techno world since more than a decade , releasing music on labels like terminal m , kanzleramt , kling klong , sci_tec to name a few . so when davide squillace and luca bacchetti received a demo from the german producer , they were really impatient to open the zip file and discover what was inside . the two discovered a four track ep full of analogue synths , organic beats and grooooove . so here is hideout ninth reference : get up and bounce ep by patrick lindsey . it all starts with > what i remember < a very strong anthem with a disco funk loop background and deep vocals by k. mason. the title track > get up and bounce < is next with its hypnotic >get up< voice snipet on top of a shuffled semi acoustic groove full of cow bells and snare drums. third track of the ep is named lockruf , evolving from a jazz sample thru vocal snipets , crazy drum rolls and saxo hooks. the last track of the ep is schleifkraft where a straight to the point chicago groove is topped with some more vocals , a very bouncy bass line and analogue synth sounds . a new reference in the hideout catalogue , four new techno tracks soon to become classics !

>dysfunction<, hannulelauris first ep on i m a cliche goes beyond the dreamy, cosmic atmosphere of their previous releases and remixes on other eurodisco labels. the duos new sound still sends us floating but with an edgier, more toxic ride. hannu and lauri aka hannulelauri created a track for i m a cliche, a remix of botoxs hit >blue steel<. this track inspired the label to make more room for the finnish duo and bring their new music into its discography.
these two have been active figures in helsinkis club scene for quite a while, producing music together since 2006. when they crossed the borders of finland, the name of the band was pretty hard to retain but it didnt take long for all the bigwigs of modern disco to memorize it. two originals and a selection of remixes: >dysfunction< steps into the territory of deep melodic house with a classic resonance >box of box< throws around some fun rough beats toby tobias remix of dysfunction is iced with elegance and soulfulness. populettes remix of >box of box< is the new best friend of house dancers.

the fifth release on dresden-based label uncanny valley is the first artist-ep and with jacob korn and his she ep one of the artists that contributed to the label from the very beginning provides a great start for the new series. last year the eponymous she has already made the summer even more thrilling when jacob played it in his live set.

a brilliant b-side by austrian, donna summer and, produced by the ingenious frank farian, this is an emotional german disco hit that hits you in the guts. i had total respect for gilla when i was a kid , says dj hell.

just when you thought that greasy delicious extra helping of biscuits n gravy was enough to make a movement, flapjack records busts into the breakfast mix with >gut bombs< by our bowel friendly funmaker nate laurence. nate laurence of the famed duo scrubfish n laurence first appeared flapjack records back on flap003 with a snappin remix. since then nate has gone off on his own cooking excursion to get a little greasier and dirtier up in the kitchen. >gut bombs< is testament to his grits n gravy dance floor gut bombing new style. dig it, but stay close to a bathroom

for more than a year, third ear and benjamin have been selecting tracks for this ep and for an album to follow later in the year. the wait was largely due to the track no kicks, which initially used a chuck d acapella, titled no. when third ear couldn?t get clearance for the acapella, we suggested to benjamin that we try and think of another poet/rapper who could produce an original lyric inspired by chuck d?s flow. after some thought we suggested diamondancer, who was inspired to write the lyric she performs here. stay hungry stay foolish and acidic sun are delicious and dreamy, with a fat pulsing groove. hello ammmerika is more urgent, pushing the groove constantly.

this is retrometros first vinyl outing and its worth the wait. the four tracks of sweet soul music from sailor moon take you right back to that time when a bassline could bring a tear to your eye, and a one-note synth line could make your heart burst with joy. simple, raw and emotionally-charged, this ep is as much a love letter to r&s and great, almost forgotten european artists artists like frank de wulf, as it is to the chicago legends like phuture and steve poindexter. thats some deep grooves

dj karotte support !! when benno blome and jens bond were hanging out in bennos studio the other day they suddenly found themselves on the floor looking for their heads. they must have fallen off, while producing some new bond & blome-beats. having found their heads again, and put them back on, they continued, and finally came up with the lose their heads ep. after a couple of 12inches for sender records (tentacular, control your soul) during the past years, they now armed forces to release on senders new sublabel senzen. also thanks to the fantastic remixes from onno and acumen, this whole package is ready to rumble all over the dancefloors of the universe. you can leave your hat on, while you lose your head!.

and here it is: the second vinyl ep of niko schwinds album >good morning midnight<. it features some of the unique tracks that niko has created together with some of berlins hottest production talents. on the a side are two tracks that feature the clicky tech-house boys that are channel x, where things kick off with >back from the bar<. it sounds as the title suggests: a little wobbly, a little drunk, a little crazy, but also pretty magic. quite clearly this is an homage to one of berlins not-to-be-forgotten clubs that is unfortunately history now. but things continue on here at least with >dont turn the lights on<, a more straightforward dancefloor track, with a trumpet as the main protagonist. this is one of those tracks that keeps leading up to a real arms-in-the-air-moment if it wasn’t so damn housy at the same time. on the flip the magical connection between niko and label daddy oliver koletzki can be heard on >master of ceremony<, a chopped-up house track with epic dimensions. when things get to the piano breakdown, they get very musical and colossal before dropping back into a great house track. the stark contrast between the piano melody and the groove on this really make it. last but not least then, the original album opener >good morning< that features the singing of fran. it works great as a great album opener, but also perfectly as a slower and more thoughtful addition to a great ep

alison moyet started her career in 1982, at the age of 21, when she formed the electropop duo yazoo with former depeche mode member vince clarke. yazoo scored several hits and recorded two albums. however, in 1983 moyet and clarke decided to disband yazoo.in 1984, moyet released her debut solo album alf (titled after her punk-era nickname). the record became a huge hit and spawned three international hit singles: love resurrection , invisible and all cried out .

originally born in the south of england into a musically gifted family, mark reeve received the major order to be a dj and to play electronic dance music when he moved to the rhein-main area in 1998. mark is now known today as a non stop dj and producer , as an artist he has now had his most important releases on cult label defected with with düsseldorf-based tapesh, solo on traumschallplatten (sep 2011), for monique musique or neurotraxx - marks tracks are always a mixture between dancefloor moovers including groovy rhythms and big baselines. in his cocoon debut, reeve presents himself in all his stylistic bandwidth: >daybreak< combines a highly-functional tribal bass pumping station with such mighty dub chords that make the sun shine even in in the most remote corner of the club, while >morning on mars< gives priority to the hypnotic effect of percussion. mark reeve is definitely a name to remember in 2011!

following ryan davis debut >routes of life< on traum in january 2011, his high acclaimed follow up shows ryan is a real tastemaker but also a real club rocking musician. few artists in the electronic modern dance scene of today make music that seems serious and intense... and still accomplishes to have club people go wild on it. it is a bit of a lost treasure of the golden techno days, ryan always reflects in his music when he creates moments of beauty with an collective fee to them. ryan davis in one of them and his new ep shows that side even more than his debut. a-side track supernova brings images together of psychedelic west coast soundtracks of the 70ies, pop art, shoe gazers and maybe salvatore dalis surrealism.

when primal scream s exterminator – or xtrmntr – came out in 2000 as the last album on alan mcgee s legendary creation records it made quite a stir. mcgee must have told the scream to let the label go out with a bang , and boy did they deliver.

a little quiet so far this year but now one of the new power generation drum & bass production crews are back with an absolutely sick two part ep that is anything but quiet. michael willer and robert stefan aka body & soul have been busy, very busy creating what is undoubtedly their most explosive release to date on their own nasca records. get ready for a great big bag of awesome!
part 1 lets rip with the title track >shipwrecked<, with an ominous intro it sets the scene perfectly for whats to come with an outrageously horrid bass that snarls and pulls at its lead, snapping at anything that comes close. you d better start running though because when that lead breaks its gonna get you! add a nasty vox and the package is complete. demolition drum and bass that’s ready to take out the whole club!
